Rome

On the way to Rome! High speed train with our own cubby. So fancy :)

The next morning we got up early to go see the Pope! It was a little rainy, but there were still so many people. Thousands upon thousands. Lots of people of all ages and lots of school children. at the end of the service, the kids all chanted "Papa Francesco" it was so neat.

After seeing the Pope, we went to the Roman Forum, Palatine Hill and the Colloseum. It was incredible to see the ruins and be walking in history.

The hill with all the palaces:

The arena

Caesar's tomb!

The Romans would ride their chariots through here on the way to the Colosseum or the Roman Forum during their "Victory Lap."

Then we went to the Trevi Fountain and tossed in our coins, made a wish, and got some gelato :)

Did you know they serve wine by the liter in Rome? Love it!

The next day we went back to the Vatican and toured inside the museum and St Peter's Basilica. There was a thunder storm while we were inside, and that was so neat!

Again with our Rick Steve's app.

Then we climbed to the top of the basilica :)

And we finished our time in Rome by having more wine and great food!

The next day was Brian's birthday and so we had another early morning to head over to Amsterdam.
