Modena & Vernazza

After Venice we made our way to Modena for Brian to tour the Ferrari Factory. The train ride was really neat but it made it a little difficult with last minute changes and not speaking the language. 

We ended up making it to Modena no problem and toured the factory. Here we are at the factory:

After the museum tour, Brian got to test drive a ferrari on the Italian Freeway. I thought it was a scam and that we were going to get all of our stuff stolen, but we came out ok ;)

After the factory we made our way back to the train station. We felt pretty lucky that we made it on all the trains... And then it all came crashing down. We were at the train station and noticed last minute our train was cancelled and we heard a lot of small Italian women yelling and saying "La Spezia" which is where we were going. We found a teenager that spoke English and he explained that the train was cancelled and they have a bus to take to catch the connection... So we ran to the bus.

We made it to the bus, but it dropped us of at a stop in the middle of nowhere. After he dropped off all 50 of the people and the bus left, we then found out that the connecting train was cancelled.  They shipped us to the middle of nowhere and there was no way to get out! 

Luckily there was an Italian gal who spoke English and was the ring leader for getting us to the Cinque Terre. She called the police and arranged for another bus to pick us up and take us to La Spezia. 

It was a long, long day and we thought we were trapped but we made it to the Cinque Terre around midnight.  

The next day we were able to have a real vacation day. We slept in, hiked, had great food, and had awesome lemoncino Bellini's!
